JustHost Review
Introduction:
JustHost are a leading US hosting provider and gained a reputation for being one of the best web hosts in the world. Looking around the plethora of hosting review sites, opinions are mixed on Just Hosts, ranging from “top notch” to “don’t waste your money.” However that would apply to all popular web hosts! Bear in mind that the more successful the host, you tend to find more poor reviews, as people will rarely devote the time to posting a good review.
I have several WordPress Blogs hosted on Just Host and found them excellent. However I’m not a newbie web hoster. From a web hoster’s point of view I’m pretty much an ideal client. I rarely raise support tickets, and hate phoning “support.”
None of my sites are so mission critical that I can’t afford a little downtime (and on shared hosting you will always get some downtime) and rarely do my blogs get “Slashdotted.” If they were mission critical, such as a busy e-commerce store that life depended on then I wouldn’t opt for shared hosting. In that case I’d probably opt for a VPS or dedicated server.
Anyway, so far Just Host they have proved to me that they can operate a reliable server infrastructure and network. Certainly I wasn’t expecting the moon as Just Host prices are certainly at the “bargain basement” end of the market which at first made me very suspicious. How on earth can they do this the money? Despite initial reservations, Just Host give you a very reliable service.

Features:
Just Host like, HostPapa have adopted the “unlimited” business model. As such they offer unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, unlimited SQL databases,. You also have the ability to host “unlimited” domains from one account.
Unlimited?
Take this with a pinch of salt though. Its impossible for a web host to offer truly “unlimited” on a shared hosting server. They haven’t invented servers yet with unlimited processor power and hard drives. If your WordPress or Joomla blog still get a surge of traffic you risk having your site taken down, to protect other users on the server. Just Host however are at pains, in their support docs, to point out their server resource limit of 10% (unlike many hosts who bury this away in their small print.
Extras:
Even though the prices are low, there are no setup charges, you get a free domain for life. If you feel inclined to promote your site using Pay Per Click, Just Host also provide $75 of free Google, Yahoo and Miva ad credits.
Free Sitebuilder:
If you are not too hot on web design, thats not a problem either. Just Host have bundled a pretty decent site builder for free, which comes with a ton of pretty attractive templates to suit most tastes. With the help of Just Host video tutorials, a free script vault, and a wide range of free e-commerce shopping carts, there should be no reason why your new website cannot be up and running with a minimum of delay.
Recommendation:
The service provided by JustHost is more than adequate for the price, which can’t be argued with. Bear in mind its basically US based hosting which is cheaper (albeit with the benefit of local support). The status blog and other reviews suggests there is some downtime as their hosting setup seems relativey unsophisticated (standalone Linux servers running WHM/Cpanel). However importantly they recover from disaster pretty quickly and let you know whats happening on their status blog. Also all your data seems to be well backed up (obviously do your own regular site backups just in case).
I wouldn’t run a busy ecommerce or business site on Just Host’s shared service, but for that you would need a dedicated server obviously. But if you are running a personal web site or blog, or need a host for lots of feeder or “farm” sites (like I do) then Just Host are ideal.
